LIFE'S CIRCLE
Life turned out to be a party,
That went on for days and days.
It went on just like in the movies,
Sort of like in books and plays.
Most all of it had happiness,
That overrode sad times.
Had ecstasy moments along the way,
From there, life seemed to climb.
From the cradle to adulthood,
It was great to be alive.
Then, came dating, lots of friends,
And a love you found inside.
Someone special to spend life with,
Happy moments, high and low,
Such special loving moments,
You'd like everyone to know.
When happiness seemed the best there was,
Then the children began to arrive.
Now life was really worth the living,
Through your namesakes, you would survive.
As the kids grew older and you turned old.
Your roles were reversed, it seemed.
They bought your clothes, took you to the Doc,
When you told funny stories, they beamed.
They would hurriedly dress, then off to their jobs,
They had a sitter who stayed with you.
A call comes in each and every day,
For them to ask how you do.
Just like a child, you heard them ask,
"How did he eat? Did he take his med?"
"Did he watch T. V.? Stay up late"
"Did he throw a fit when you put him to bed?"
And so the clock comes full circle,
As life goes round and round.
The old ones are like youngsters, again,
The once young ones are losing ground.
So be sweet to your children and Grands,
As you nicely and gracefully age.
For they will become the parents, soon,
And life will be played on their stage.
You must raise them to the best of your ability,
They are on loan for such a short while.
God loaned them to us, to show them the way,
To make adults out of a child.
Adults who are responsible people,
Tender, loving and kind, my friend.
With hearts filled with love for their fellowman,
They'll stick by you 'til the end.
Yet, when that milestone day arrives,
And they are circled around your bed,
Only love and precious memories remain,
On your journey, you'll have nothing to dread.Jay Cee ~~ ©
