THE CROSS AND THE STONE
The memory of that awful day,
When they took Jesus' life away,
As He was hung upon the cross,
It seemed to all, the world was lost.
The sun did hide, as skies turned black.
The nighttime pushed the daylight back.
A rooster crowed, not once, but thrice,
A robe, the prize, for a throw of the dice.
As Judas hung from a tree, his work done,
Payment for betrayal of a beloved one.
His destiny ruled as his life was delivered,
While on the ground, lay thirty pieces of silver.
The long hours of agony, over at last.
As day is breaking, an as a life passed.
Lying in a cave, as the third day nears,
At the stone, over the opening, an angel appears.
Early morning, lady friends come to visit the tomb.
What a shock, upon arriving,- an empty room!
The stone, so heavy, had been simply rolled away,
They heard, "He has risen", on this first Easter Day.
Jesus gave His life, that all could be saved.
His promise was fulfilled, as he arose from the grave.
As this Easter approaches, ever humbly, we pray,
To live our lives fittingly, to see Jesus, one day.
Rejoice! And be glad for this glorious day.
Revel in its goodness; let Christ lead the way.
As we pray for long lives, as the years are passing,
We know the first Easter, proved life, everlasting.Jay Cee ~~ ©
