DADDY'S GIRL
A father wants to have a son,
To carry on his name.
To be a mirror of himself,
To take him to all the games.
But more than anyone could know,
A secret filled his world.
Thoughts swelled his heart with joy,
That one day, they would have a girl.
A little girl to hold his hand,
To twist his heart like a spring.
With a tiny face, a rosebud mouth,
Her fingers, to his, would cling.
Then, one summer's evening,
With hope, he paced the floor.
In a waiting room, a nervous wreck,
When a nurse came through the door.
She held a bright pink blanket,
As the light from the window fell.
It touched upon a little face,
That turned this big man to jell.
The baby years went too fast,
She started school, so soon.
Daddy's little girl was growing up,
She sang the teen idol tunes.
She wore pink ribbons in her hair,
Her favorite dress was lace.
Her light hair hung, in golden curls,
She had an angelic face.
She was her Daddy's angel,
His source of pride and joy.
And yet, sometimes, in summer,
She'd turn into a tom boy.
But late at night, before bedtime,
You could see where she collapsed,
In PJ's and fuzzy slippers,
Asleep, in Daddy's lap.
Of all the things God gave him,
No wealth or treasure untold,
Could ever bring a Daddy, love,
Like this child of his, to hold.
Little girls and Daddy's,
Have a very special bond.
Of all the love in the world,
Their love, goes way beyond.
Beyond the normal boundaries,
They share such special pleasures.
For God sent little girls to Dads,
To bring them untold treasures.Jay Cee ~~ ©
