IN SEARCH OF ..........

I searched for you among the willow trees,
And on a hillside, green.
Walked the meadow, by the pond
And followed a rock-filled stream.

Glancing down the roadside,
Exploring by the water's edge,
Peeking in the deep-leafed gullies;
And along each rocky ledge.

Traipsing over wheat-sown fields
Showing colors that speak of Spring,
Feeling the warmth of bright sunshine,
While feeling the March wind's sting.

For it was there, I saw you last,
As you waved and nodded your head.
There were more than just the two of us,
Romping; playing in your bed.

You looked so alive and perky,
As you danced and swayed in the wind,
It was then, I lifted you from the spot
Took you home with me, as a friend.

Yet, sometimes things just happen,
It lasted for only a week,
All the loveliness, withered and died,
Leaving only your memory to keep.

Remembering the smell of your perfume,
And the beauty you could bring,
With the will to survive the Winter,
And return to me, each Spring.

While searching in the fallen leaves,
Now browned from Winter's plight
I seek and find a tiny glimpse
Of yellow, and gasp with delight!

When topping a slight elevation,
My laughter, from the silence, erupts,
For there you stand, on long, green legs;
My friend; The Buttercup!
