FAVORITE AUNT

The autumn leaves gave false delights,
As the news came in today.
Clouds in the sky gave not a clue,
That a dear one had passed away.

Oh death! Who sneaks among us,
To steal our mirth and kin.
Who broke our hearts and spirits strong,
Leaving pain so deep within.

A sudden jolt of sorrow came,
With the passing of that sweet soul.
It came like lightening; fast and straight,
Far more than a heart could hold.

Flashes of memories rip through the mind,
As pictures played over and or'.
It's hard to accept this earth angel's gone,
To be silent, forever more.

She laughed and played with a lonely child,
Taking on a playmate's face.
Tea cups, teddies, jacks and dolls,
She'd dance and frolic with grace.

Alas! Grieve not for this fine soul,
Who lingered here on this earth.
She fought her battles bravely,
Beginning with her birth.

That saintly soul has paid her price,
As death hung 'round her door.
She's gone to join the angels, now,
Earth's sorrow she knows no more.

Rejoice! Be glad to have known her,
Whose life was a treasured story.
For she is now in the arms of our Lord,
Ever shinning in His glory.
