NIGHTS AND SUCH

The night encroaches in ever descending fingers of color in the magical sky,
sending streaks of light dancing over the heavens above.
Night creatures contribute sounds of music to the forest floor, as others stop
humming for fear of capture, feeling safe in their silence.

The flurry of fairy dust has settled on the thick arms of the great oak and on the
gray bark of the beeches.
The sycamore flashes white, fleshy legs resembling tall, white ghost, playing by
the waters edge, as the lazy moon plays hide and seek with the clouds.

The impish creatures of the twilight are supping on the last of the collected nectar,
when all at once, the brightest star erupts above the sunset, in the distant west.

Some days are good days. Some days are not. Choosing between the choices given,
the choice today; is not.

And so, making a departure from the shades of night shadows, heading off to the
hollow tree just north of the stump with the gray water in the bowl of it, I will curl up
in my bed of rabbit's fur and leaves and weep diamond sparkles of tears as I suck
my thumb in pity.

I will tuck my wings under my arm and fall asleep with traces of tears on pink cheeks.
The brown moth will fly in to dry my tears with its winged motions, and a fairy elf will
come to pull the covers up around me.
As the moonlight creeps across my brow, I will smile as I dream. The dream catcher,
hanging from the knothole, will capture all the bad dreams and allow only the good ones
to penetrate the tiny holes in the weave.

Hoping for a better tomorrow, as I send fairy wishes just for you, tonight.
