AS IT BECOMES FALL

I get so melancholy as Autumn leaves begin to turn.
My heart fills with wanderlust, my soul begins to yearn
My mind thinks of blue skies, of lakes so crystal clear.
And I still say, without a doubt, this is my time of year.

Down in a peaceful valley, where animals go to play,
I can see in my future, a cabin of logs and clay.
With a huge stone fireplace, to fill the long end wall;
With wood floors and rag rugs, simple things; that’s all.

I'm standing here in my cabin door, drinking in the view,
Just only in my mind, you see, yet I pray it will come true.
I'll sit by the fire and read a little, as the cold winds blow,
I'll churn a little, sew a bit, and watch the falling snow.

I'll have a garden all summer, flowers throughout the fall,
A bountiful, well set table, when dear friends come to call.
Solitude and peacefulness; no loneliness at all -
My mind can see such lovely things, as it becomes fall.
